National Trends & Services

Focused on issues and concerns impacting our community and nation.

The primary areas of our National Trends and Services Programs include: Voter Registration, HBCU, and Human Trafficking; Women’s Issues and Economic Empowerment Committee and Black Lives Matter: Linking Knowledge to Action and Wallet Wise Program and Anti-bullying program.  In 2018 & 2019 we have touched over 1000 lives in the community through our efforts of voter registration, TSU Law Student outreach,  Houston Airports partnering with Human trafficking deterrents and outreach to immigrant women and minority women.

The goals of the National Trends & Services facet include increasing collaborative partnerships to serve communities identified as having the greatest need. Voting registration drives, Mentoring students at TSU on job interviewing skills and  resume writing, Human Trafficking Awareness, DASH DIET for seniors, Covid-19 Awareness, Estate Planning, Wills, and Power of Attorney education have all been implemented.

Feature Program:

Partnership w/ Children-At-Risk

We volunteered with the Children- at-Risk at the “The Art of Stopping Human Trafficking exhibit held at the Wynden. Our group collaborated with Children at Risk to facilitate this event. This event was a great networking and educational evening. Additionally, we heard from Dr. Robert Sanborn, CEO of the Children-at-Risk, on the “real face” of human trafficking. Houston is a leading hub for human trafficking in the U.S. Today, an estimated 21 million victims are trapped in modern-day slavery, and of these, 14.2 million individuals are exploited for labor, 4.5 million individuals are sexually exploited, and 2.2 million individuals are exploited into forced labor. This event raised awareness with the altruistic aim of ending human trafficking, in Houston and around the world. The funds raised at this event will go towards provisions for the victims and expanding the legislative arm of Children at Risk.

Together, we National Trends and Services can make a difference in our community by including sustainable and measurable programs; increasing collaborative partnerships; and extending our existing initiatives to include communities identified as having the greatest need, and this we promise.
