Linked in Friendship and Connected in Service, the Port City Chapter was chartered on May 16, 1987. Our programs focus on the current targeted needs for specific interest groups of our citizens who are under-served and overlooked. Currently we support the Houston community with Dash Diet workshops for seniors, Mental Health Awareness Day, Legislative Day at the Capitol (photo), Human Tracking initiatives, International Peace Day at Codwell Elementary and assistance to the Canaan Orphanage in Montrouis, Haiti. In the Science Technology areas we support the NSBE Jr, STEM, STEAM programs at Young Elementary, Codwell Elementary, Blue Ridge Elementary and Young Women’s Preparatory Academy Schools. Our outreach to the community is extended to our local universities as well by mentoring Texas Southern University’s Art and Business Majors students and recently initiated a Texas Southern University Port City Student Endowment.
Our chapter is a longtime supporter of Santa at the Ensemble held annually in December. Every March, for over 14 years, we host the Annual Health, Education, Science Fair and Carnival. During this Fair free lunch is provided for nearly 300 participants while over 50 booths of volunteers share information for personal growth, health care services, and giveaways. The strengths of the Chapter and our outstanding accomplishments are a testament of our members’ hard work and dedication; however we realize we have not succeeded alone. Our success is because of the help and collaboration with many partners, sister Links chapters, generous sponsors, dedicated friends, and community leaders. The members of the Port City (TX) Chapter of the Links,Incorporated appreciates the support. We hope you will continue to collaborate with us as we lend a helping hand to the Houston community.
Sincerely yours in Friendship and Service,
Sabrina Hill Loeb
